Believe it or not, Compassion fatigue is caused by our own wonderful sense of empathy.

It occurs naturally when we have been caring for folks with tragic or traumatic outcomes for which we have little impact to change.

It happens over time and often starts with burnout. You know that feeling? The one where we started out so excited but then ran out of energy and stalled, frequently frustrated and leaving us feeling apathetic and frustrated.

STOP RIGHT THERE!

IF you don't stop and make changes, the accumulation of pouring yourself out for another will wear you out and lead you to Compassion Fatigue! The emotional exhaustion of being preoccupied with our loved on alllll the time, even we are not with them.
